Spring Into Change

Spring has sprung! This time of year, my thoughts always fall on the ideas of change and renewal. Do yours, too? There’s just something about spring that makes me feel that anything is possible. This spring, I am looking with my eyes wide open at my life, self, and business and asking what type of impact I want to make. What do I need to start the flame that takes on and creates the change I want to see in my world? But, just as importantly, I’m also taking a frank look at what I don’t need. Are there people, things, places, thoughts, or items that no longer serve me?

To be honest, this isn’t easy. As humans, we like consistency. Doing things differently or making a change feels scary, and our ego usually tries to get us to stop doing what we’re doing to make that feeling of fear go away. But, if we are truly all amazing humans (we are!), and living to our true potential is a gift (it is!), we need to move past that fear and address the change we need to move towards to become who we want to be. In my own life, I have allowed fear - fear of the unknown, fear of failure, fear of letting someone down - to affect how I show up for myself. I no longer want to do that, and I don’t want you to either!

I’m not asking you to make BIG and BOLD changes. Real change just as easily grows from small decisions made in alignment with where you want to go and who you want to be. Let’s imagine a plant (bear with me here). As a plant grows, some of the leaves may turn brown. To keep the plant healthy and thriving, we cut off the dead leaves so that nutrients don’t keep going to the part that is no longer alive. I’d like you to look at your life in the same way. What may you need to trim back or remove to allow you to grow and bloom? What must you let go of to level up to your BEST self?

I’d like you to start noticing where you have irritation towards a person, place, or circumstance and start dreaming about how you would like it to be different. The change you seek is smaller than you imagine and, thus, less scary than your brain wants you to think. This is good news because if you think of it that way, you can be honest with yourself and realize that the change you need to implement in your life can be small...a new habit, a different way you intentionally want to see a problem, eliminating time from social media…small, simple, easy, but a change that leads you towards where you want to be.

What new thoughts do you need to think to allow you to act on the one thing you have wanted to do for a while but always find a reason not to?
