A Fresh Start
There's something about August and the back-to-school season that feels like a mini New Year's. A chance to start fresh and make new goals, all those new pens and crisp white loose leaf that you send off with your kids just feels so hopeful. I see this time as a prime opportunity to look at my work schedule and decide if there are any changes I want to make with the goal of making my life and business better.
As a Mom and business owner, we go through seasons. Seasons where the schedule needs to change and bend based on the things going on in our lives. When I realized this, it was a game changer.
I have always been someone who likes to "set it and forget it." How naive of me to think I could do that with a family and a business! It's crazy to think how I just wanted to "not worry about it" and didn't see the opportunity and advantage we have as moms to be flexible and get the most out of time working in our business and being with our families.
So around this time of year, I like to sit down and ask myself a few questions:
#1 What are my goals for 12.31.23?
#2 What is the gap between where I am NOW and where I want to be?
#3 Where do I need to focus my time over the next 30 days to make an impact on closing that gap?
#4 What do I need to let go of, either things or activities, so I can create the year-end I am dreaming of?
#5 Where do I have an opportunity to change and update my schedule to best suit me and where I am?
Don't lose this opportunity, this time, to make changes that can positively impact the rest of your year. While you're at it, ensure you have all the time off you want to take till the end of the year. Being realistic about the time you have to create and connect to make those year-end goals are KEY. We sometimes don't want to face reality, but when we do, magical things can happen.
Let's get honest. Let's get clear. Let's make this year the best it has been in our business and life!
