Let’s get that one thing going…

Happy October! In my recent social media posts, I talked about narrowing into the "1 thing" you would love to focus on right now in your life. Maybe it's finding a new job, creating balance in your work life so you can focus on other things that are important, or starting a podcast...it doesn't matter what the one thing is...all that matters is that you are focused on something that if you were able to accomplish, it would create a positive change in your life.

If you haven't had the opportunity to discover your one thing, click HERE to get started!

So, now you have your one thing. How do you accomplish this important new focus in your life? This is where it gets fun.

Let's go on a historical journey, shall we? Think back to second grade when science class was full of mystery and most definitely fun. (No lab partners that didn't hold up their end of the bargain, amirite?) You were excited at the thought of getting to do a real experiment with real science tools! BUT, before being able to perform the experiment, you had to come up with a hypothesis. Remember that? It was the formula you had to use to take an educated guess on what your outcome would most likely be.

This, my friend, is exactly where you are in your step to figuring out how to accomplish your one thing. Much like your second-grade science experiment, you learned that there wasn't necessarily one way to get to the result you were looking for, right? This is why you need to be open to the multiple possibilities of putting into action steps (or "experiments") to find the solution to your one-thing dream.

You might be wondering, what is she talking about? Let me deep dive, into my own business and share an example of how this works for me. My one thing right now is to continue to grow my business because I'm ready to serve more amazing people. Here's what my "formula" looks like because the truth is we never know what will work:

  1. Rewriting my website to be more specific on how I serve.

  2. Researching online marketing to gain knowledge on how I can do things differently.

  3. Research other individuals in my space and see how they grew their businesses.

  4. Sign up for a business-minded group coaching from an expert.

So, when I look at my one thing and come up with multiple questions to experiment with, I know I'm headed in the right direction. Of course, I wish doing only one would result in significant success. Still, I'm a realist, and I know that to find the right "solution" with my "experiment," I've got to keep testing to see what works, much like the giddy second-grade student excited for the foam volcano to erupt. But of course, if one way doesn't work, I've got other ways to keep the momentum and adjust accordingly along the way!

Here's a formula of questions you can use to help you start experimenting with accomplishing your one thing...

  1. What in your life do you need to change or add to do this one thing?

  2. Research by asking other individuals who have created or accomplished your one thing.

  3. What tools do you need to get your one thing accomplished?

Much like life, accomplishing your one thing is about showing up for yourself each day and being willing to try something new to achieve your ultimate goal. And honestly, from the bottom of my heart, I mean this: the person you become along the way to achieving your one thing is what counts the most. It's more fun when we take the pressure off ourselves to perform and instead act more like a scientist and test our unique formula for success!

If you're finding that you need a little more guidance regarding this or any other aspect of your business, life, and self, I'm an email away!
